The third place in the competition of Young scientific worker for third department won Veronika Szeghy-Gayer. Congratulations, we are happy for her!
Veronika participated in the competition with set of studies discussing elite in Slovakia in changing regime in the years 1867-1945. She focused on particular groups:
- bourgeoisie of towns in Slovakia in 1918
- Jewish representants of Hungarian national party in interwar period
- Family of Propper from Prešov between years 1867 – 1945
The studies search the strategies and adaptation of elite on changing environment, their national identity and loyalty towards particular political regime. The main task of studies was to verify hypothesis about continuity within urban elite, which was more significant than we expected until now based on the historiographic work about this period, mostly associated with local official elite and Jewish elite in Slovakia.
