From 19 to 21 January 2020, our young researcher Miroslava Bozogáňová and her colleague Tatiana Lorincová from the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov in Prešov, Slovakia, attended the International Forum on Migration Statistics (IFMS) held in Cairo (Egypt). IFMS is the only global forum specifically focused on improving migration data and statistics and supporting dialogue between the various actors. This year’s event hosted more than 700 participants from 99 countries, whose speeches covered topics such as: strengthening data for policy-making, data collection and innovation, cooperation and data management, improving the availability of data on migrants in vulnerable situations, etc. Click here for a summary report of the meeting.

With their speech entitled “Comparison of Visegrad Four from the Viewpoint of Opinions on Immigrants”, Slovakian attendees contributed to the section entitled “Regional migration data: Eastern Europe.” “Attending IFMS was a unique experience, where participants from around the world discussed the problems and solutions associated with migration, with great professionalism in a friendly atmosphere. We believe that we will be able to represent the Slovak Republic in 2022 as well”, said our colleague, Mirka.
