
On 2 April 2020, at the age of 62, doc. PhDr. Miroslav Frankovský, CSc., our former colleague, researcher and friend died.
Miroslav Frankovský, a cocial psychologist, methodologist and expert on social research methods was born on 29 January 1958 in Prešov, Slovakia. He received his master’s degree in psychology at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik (FF UPJŠ) in Košice in 1981. In the same year, he started his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. In 1984, he received the title “PhDr.” [Doctor of Philosophy], awarded by the FF UPJŠ. From October 1986, he continued his studies at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences as an “internal scientific aspirant”. He obtained his “CSc” scientific degree in 1991, at the Institute of Experimental Psychology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava. From March 1992, he worked at the Institute of Social Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences as a researcher. In 2003, he gained another scientific and pedagogical title – he became associate professor of the Masaryk University in Brno, Czechia. He ended his work at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in 2007, since then he worked at the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov, Slovakia.
In the field of scientific research, he dealt with issues including those of social intelligence, coping with difficult situations and cognitive errors in the context of the manager’s personality and issues of environmental awareness.
He was a member of several scientific-research and professional bodies, committees, commissions, councils and associations. He was also the manager of many domestic and international projects, the author of numerous domestic and foreign publications, or the trainer of a large number of successful postgraduate students.
Doc. Frankovský was not only an expert in his field, but also a charismatic man with a sense of humour, teamwork, incredible vitality and a drive for sports.
